Cheap knockoff third-party battery grips

........... worry about a chance that your camera's electronics will fry.

Is there any empirical proof that this has actually happened?

If I can find it again, but on another forum I belonged to years ago someone bought a cheap grip for a D7000 I think and it literately fried it. The connection point for the grip was melted lol.

If so, was it:

A). determined that it was the fault of the grip?
B). determined that it was the fault of the camera?
C). determined that it was the fault of the user?

No doubt, but if the OEM grip does mess up, you can fire the whole damn mess back to Nikon/Canon/Sony and expect things to be fixed/replaced. If the grip comes from People's Accessory Factory #6 in Beijing, and the batteries from People's Battery Works in Chan-Tao, you might have a bit of difficulty.

I have the Adorama/Flashpoint magnesium alloy grip for my D800. No issues yet. Had it for a couple years.
Wish I could afford the Nikon version, but at $300.00 ouch!!!

I have the Vello for like $100, GF has the Nikon version for like $500 or something
hers still works..I rarely use mine..so I kinda fuzz with it and borrow hers if she's around

I have Meike brand grips for my D600, d750, and d800 for a couple of years now. It works and for the money I can't complain.

Hmm.

Somehow the thought of using an offbrand battery grip, anything else but original batteries, or anything less than the best memory cards never even crossed my mind ?!?

I just waited until I saw a good offer on the used market and got me an original Nikon MB-D16 battery grip for my D750. And my cards are all Sandisk Extreme Pro. And I also always use them in pairs and backup mode.
