I have had zero issues with 200-500. What body are you putting it on ? I had issues with errors on my D7000. Basically that lens was so heavy & while carrying it pulled away from the electrical contacts. I suspect you may be having a similar issue. I would just have to un-mount & snap back in. This has rarely happened since switching to D500
