Did you have a CPOL on? I'm surprised you weren't able to filter some of that light out and bring more depth to the colors. Normally your captures are amazing. Hopefully, the chicks will give you another chance soon.

Check the shadows out, not enough angle to use a CP...

Those are excellent shots Don. Those tiny birds move so much they are very hard to get a decent photo of them.
