Yes but for a amature that doesnt want to spend a lot of money and wants more bang for the buck, id take a single zoom that a couple of primes... price wise

You could always get the 50mm f1.8 for $100 and a telephoto zoom for $300. Those two lenses and your kit lens should keep you busy for quite a while.
