Pretty. Although based on the spikey stems? leaves? foliage? I think it’s a Thanksgiving cactus.

I made the mistake of moving mine and all the buds fell off before opening.

Thanks! Well, who knew? I learned something new today. Schlumbergera truncate, the Thanksgiving Cactus aka Holiday Cactus or Crab Cactus. Nice call! Mine had a section knocked off, and I stuck it in a pot of soil, and it is doing well, although no blooms on it yet. The one with blooms is about five years old. Very fragile plants, but I imagine that is how they propagate.

My wife has one the same color. This one hasn’t bloomed this year but did bloom at Christmas last year.

Nice. I nursed one last year under lights in the basement grow-op that rewarded us with similar flowers. Tougher than they look!

This one is on it's second bloom of the year. It bloomed back in June-July timeframe. I water it "when I think about it," so maybe every two weeks, and on occasion I put a small amount of miracle gro in the water, and I think it likes that.

Thanks! I was really surprised that the one I stuck in a pot rooted. I did add some rooting powder before I put it in the dirt, but I probably didn't even need to do that.

I love these! The top shot of the bud is my fave.

I confess I never knew there was any difference in these holiday bloomers (having only been gifted one, which I killed rather quickly - over-watering, I guess). I usually do fairly well with houseplants but I'm afraid of these now! I do admire these gorgeous blooms. I think it's impressive you got one to root, and it will probably bloom in time.

Thanks! I didn't know the difference either, until SquarePeg mentioned it. I water mine every week to two weeks, when the soil gets dry. I have a few plants like that now, so I've had some practice at not overwatering.
