That last one is adorable! Way cute idea!

The first two though have too many distractions for me. My eyes are darting all over the photo to see all of the little details instead of being able to focus on the family. For example, the floating wreath has a really awkward and intruding placement in both the first two photos in my opinion, and the pine cones really draw my attention away as well.

I think Dan nailed the critique, but I will add that technically, this is some of your best work. In #1, you nailed the exposure, got two adults, two children and a dog all looking where they should be, and WITH good expressions. There's a bit of an odd angle to the image which makes me suspect your camera wasn't quite level and square to the scene, but that's minor and easily corrected in post. My only other thought is, ease up on the gimmicks! Without the wreath and cones, this would have been a stand-out set.

Thanks guys. This scene was actually set for two smaller kids, milk and cookies. I posted in the nikon forum about recovering images from an sd card... Those are the images I'm trying to get back :/ I'm sure they can be done again if necessary but yeah. Big screw up on my part! I was going to lose the wreath and pine cones and just keep the star banner things for this but decided to just roll with it. This was a day of test runs in borrowed friends for. Thanks again for the feedback as always!!!

don't like the pine cones and wreath.... a tad bit too bright for me and the highlights or something looks off to me in the 2nd and 3rd one to me( like maybe they were overexposed and tried to be fixed I dunno something seems a bit off in that respect to me). Also I wish there was a bit more colour or something in the background.....everything seems a bit washed out or something in number three for me at least

The "JOY" picture is cute too. I like the idea and the kids are adorable. But! next time just take out all that stuff around it. The blanket keeps dragging my eyes down and the reef is just there. So keep the background simple and blurred out as much as you can. If you think it would look to boring you can keep the stares and bring them very close to the kids.

Thanks all! These were definitely not overexposed SOOC, but I know what you mean about the highlights.. These were just about perfectly exposed SOOC and I may have upped exp about 1/4 stop. I do like bright. I'm normally not a prop person AT ALL but I'm trying out some of these for holiday mini sessions. People seem to love the themed shoots. ;\

I was fine with the pine cones as it fit with the blanket.
I actually didn't see the wreath
but the string of little gray & red stars going between the trees really threw me off big time. I started thinking if it was light abberations / ghosting initially from the lens or something.

But I love them all. great to send to family and friends. :thumbsup:

I know a lot of kids still have perfect faces and all, but the first thing I thought of, was how in picture number 2 the kids eyes, lips, and skin looks over processed.

Have you tried to dial down the reds on the kids faces to see if that looks better? I would.
