It is how he wanted the shot set up and edited. I did look at it on a diferent computer and it looked dark to me there too, I think I need to get my new laptop calibrated. I was looking for sothing to difuse the pop up but it was last minute, What would you recomend to bounce/diffuse a pop up flash?

On just about every LCD monitor I've used you need to turn the brightness all the way down. Then you'll be semi-close to what the picture really looks like in terms of brightness.

But yes, I would calibrate your monitor(s). You can get a Huey Pro for $99 and they do a pretty good job. I just switched to a ColorMunki so I could calibrate my printer, but they did a comparable job on the color calibration. The Huey also has a real-time brightness monitoring.

Well, I didnt want to be left out, but being single, no true or lights around. So, I grabbed some green, something red, something that looked like a tree, added a little light, and pooof, there it is. My Christmas Picture....even a little brokeh goin on

As usual, my son doesn't sit still enough to get a picture and I didn't put aside enough time to really set anything up.... I had to compromise as the year prior and the year before that with using some candid shots. I think its ok but I liked 2008's xmas card better..

Have you ever noticed how when someone is telling a story things seem great until the story teller says, "and then we started drinking Tequila"? Things rapidly go south from there.

Jeremy my fav is the "Coffee Table arrangement". I like the bright sidelighting and the shallow depth of field. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

I haven't had a whole lot of time to tinker with portraits...They are pretty foreign to me...Having said that, I snapped a quick one of my pride and joy. The photo is a little cool for my taste. I should warm it a little in Photoshop I suppose. None-the-less, this is my daughter Rose.

the bulb is blurred... i think i went with natural lighting, too soft on the face..
