Cleaning DSLR backpack insert

Hi everyone! I need some advice on how to clean a DSLR backpack insert.

Everything is fine, except the insert has a very strange smell to it. I have tried to get rid of it by spraying it with Febreeze, but the smell is still there.

Would it be ok to drop this insert into the washer and dryer? I need to get this smell out!

Just soak it with detergent and water. Leave it soaks for about a day and rinse with clean water. Don't put in the washer and dryer, or the bag will get ruin.
