Co-worker weirdness

...I have an 81 year old co-worker named Ed that works here in the office with me. (I work for my step-dad's construction company)

We don't really NEED him here....I could easily take care of everything on my own. But, he owned his own construction company from the time he was out of the military, til just a few years ago when a stroke forced him to retire.....he was MISERABLE in retirement...so, about 3-4 years ago, my stepdad hired him to help out in the office, and offer his expertise whenever needed. Doesn't really matter what Ed does or doesn't do in a given day...Ed will have a job here until his health (which isn't great) no longer allows him to make it to the office.

ANYWAY....just had to tell all that, so you'll understand that it's perfectly acceptable to the boss that Ed accidentally falls asleep in his chair (quite often) after lunch. He sometimes says the WEIRDEST things when he's asleep, or just waking up. Just now, he'd fallen asleep, and a loud truck that went by and woke him up a little. He then called me Carrie, asked me what month it was, and mumbled something about a floor joist!

Anyone else have any strange stories to tell about quirky co-workers, or strange things that have happened at work?

We have a guy here, named Bob. He is like a wind up doll that never winds down. Once he gets you in a "talk lock" you cant shake em. He will repeat the same story 18 times 17 differrent ways. He is one of our service techs...a really cool guy, but my mouth gets dry listening to him.
As for wierdness...we have one guy here, who eats fish out of a can, then when he is done, he boils water, pours it into the fish tin...gives it a shake, and drinks it. Makes me wanna puke every time I see it.

He obviously does! Nearly every day! It REALLY took some getting used to for me at first, because, as I said, his health isn't the best. He used to really worry me when he'd fall asleep like that, cuz I thought something was going on with him.

....I do still keep an eye on him.

I have some blood sugar issues and for a long time...I found that I was falling asleep at work almost every day around 2:00. A better diet, coffee and TFP help me to avoid it most days.

On the lighter side...a friend of mine had a similar co-worker who would fall into a deep sleep almost everyday. The had him take some tests...then they escorted him off the premises. Turned out his water bottle was filled with vodka

some of the older guys in my office are always nodding off, even the floor manager has a little nap every now and again.

There was an old guy who used to stink of urine really bad. He would stink out the whole floor, but no one would tell him or even acknowledge it. I used to sit at my desk gagging with the fumes. Strange thing was, that he was a really intelligent and well read man with a sharp sense of humour and very quick witted. I never understood why he didnt notice his own smell

Oh, just thought of another thing about Ed....doesn't matter HOW many times you tell him people's names, he ALWAYS gets several of them wrong....and I'm talkin our own employees, whom he sees everyday! Clint becomes Cliff, Adrian becomes Arnold, ect.

I was the office manager/accounting manager for a small company in Tampa. There was this older woman that worked in the office as a temp. She had to of been in her late 60s or so. I am not sure why she was working as a temp at that age, perhaps the same reasons, retirement was too boring? Anyways, she use to sit there and talk to herself every day. When she first started doing it, I would say "what?" because I thought she was talking to me, but she would ignore that I acknowledged her. She also would bend down to file and would fart really loudly. She would not even flench as if she did not know she or anyone had farted.
