College Portfolio

I am planning on majoring in photography in college next year and I was wondering what sort of stuff to put in my portfolio. My favorite thing to shoot is cars, both racing and car shows, I shoot sports for a local paper, I shoot sunsets, landscapes, and some flowers. Should I put the best of each of those categories in it or just the best overall? Any help about making a portfolio would be great. Thanks a lot!
