Report: Sean Miller May Be Owed Twice As Much By Arizona If He's Fired With Cause
The guy seriously broke some major rules.
Why is he getting any money at all?

Lots of things seem to be seriously out of whack, mostly with all secondary school's big money makers - football & basketball programs.

This contributor to Forbes refers to it as likely an error on the school's part. Apparently this is not typical wording in a contract.

Usually a contract would state that a coach would be paid the remainder of the current season/year if the termination was for cause. If it was not for or without cause, then the remaining years of the contract would be paid. That's apparently why a coach would be paid something after being fired, because of the terms of the contract that would specify the length of time.
