Does anyone have any good links regarding this subject? I was reading a little on how you can achieve better effects by uploading different color curves into your camera but I really didn't understand what all was going on or what they would do.

With Nikon cameras, you can upload a specific color curve. If you open some images in photoshop, and play with the curves command until you get a feel for it, you'll get a handle on what curve to use for your images. The photoshop command would do the same as a custom curve uploaded to your camera.

Im looking in to this myself. I believe with Nikon DSLR's you can create custom curves using Nikon Capture software and then upload them on the camera in the same place the standard curves are located. From what Ive read some people are trying to create similar curves to films they use to use. An example would be trying a curve that simulates the extreme saturation of Velvia film with all those extreme circus colors.

Try looking for curves on Nikonian.org. Ive read more about it there.
