Color Management Macbook Pro

So I just bought a macbook pro.

And while Im ridiculously happy with i in general with it but im concerned with color management.

A couple of questions:

• What brightness should i set my screen to? Plugged in it defaults to brighter than not plugged in, which is worrying as itll change the perceived "right" exposure
• Can someone recommend best color management workflow? I know macs are generally pretty good, but I guess i need to go buy a spyder?
• How does glare effect my color profile?

Trouble with laptops for viewing editing is the angle of the screen you view....images will get darker/lighter depending on what angle the screen is set at. So always try to open to the same angle. Without power the Mac Book is conserving power so the screen will not be as bright...then always edit and adjust with it plugged in.

Sadly no

Retina display was €500 more, and the retina display models come without a dvd drive, and ram cant be upgraded by the individual

So total cost wouldve been like a grand more which was out of my price range

Im also a little dumb as i got the high gloss which is the default. Its an AWESOME screen but if you have a
light source behind you you can see your reflection as if in a mirror

Fortunately viewing angle doesnt make a big difference on the mac screen

What does is brightness setting and im scratching my head to determine what is exactly white

Id say there is a 1-2 stop difference in exposure between battery and power mode

As i tend to adjust exposure in 1/3 stops thats a HUGE difference

Don't edit in battery mode... to keep correct color you will need a good monitor to connect the Mac laptop to...you can not accomplish that level of quality on a laptop screen

Thats what I was afraid of. A thunderbolt screen is next on my list but sadly need to wait a bit till i can afford one
