Complete Newbie...C&C wanted

Hi all.

I'm completely new at this. I just got my first DSLR (Nikon 3100) and this is the 63rd pic I've taken with it. This photo is in full auto, just looking for C&C on it to see how off base I am! I think it's a pretty good picture, but like I said, completely new. Thanks!

The one good thing about it is it's in focus but it is what we call a snapshot' not much thought has gone into it, houses and all the other flowers in the background are spoiling the shot too busy

Hmm, see I thought the other stuff - hotel and other flowers - were what made it interesting. I have one closer in of the flower and bee, but it seemed a bit boring to me.

The last one is nearer the mark, with some off camera flash could make a more intersting shot

Compositionally, the third is the best. You removed all that distraction in the background. To me you'd want the focus on the bud here, and it looks like it's to the left. I might be wrong though!
