Hey all,

This is my work for tonight. Really enjoyed switching my D3100 onto manual. These pics are for Composition purposes. Am i on the right road?

Compositionally, I think the last one is the strongest, though I think I would have either rotated the bottle/rack counter-clockwise some, or moved it to the left (or both).

#2 also seems to me like it would look better rotated a bit. Like, roughly 15° counter-clockwise...

The last one is also the only one where I get a good idea of what the bottle holder actually looks like. In the others, the base doesn't appear to be centered under the bottle as well as in the last one. It's the only one where you can really tell that the two sections of chain are not parallel.

First and foremost I'd ask myself: What am I trying to convey with the photograph?

Are you planning on creating an artistic approach or are you shooting images for a product catalog...?

Only the last photo made me understand WHAT you actually took a picture of. The first three images just made my mind spin wondering what kind of angle you used to photograph this since it's quite hard to arrange a chain unless it's being welded that way...

That being said, I like the last shot the most although you can still go a long way with that.

Mr. Jeep up here already gave you good suggestions how to move the bottle holder more towards the left as it literally would be more of a product shot.

Now you can try a more artistic/close-up approach by moving in closer working with shallow depth of field.

Anything is possible.

I think i may have misunderstood composition. I'll go away and read up some more on the subject.

The bottle holder is welded into the fix you see in #5. Although, in that picture i was actually trying to take a picture of the shadow.
