This is what I had to work from. I handled location, model, wardrobe. The AD liked the result.

Looks welll done; the only minor thing I notice is that the plate is rather lower in the frame than in the concept, but if the client liked it, that's all that counts!

Yes, a re-crop may be in order. Will see what happens when it gets into InDesign. Thank you.

What was this for?

Univ. of North Texas School of Design. A concept for the Cooking Channel. The student has to create a campaign, then is expected to hire and art direct a photographer. This explains the looseness of the layout. Pretty brutal asking a student to book a photographer, so needless to say, many in the community are willing to give something back and help out. This would be a full-page ad. I think it needs copy, but that's not my department. Hopefully we'll end up with a good young designer that has a lot of respect for the photography community.

This could be possible. The only issue I see is that there is not as much space available at the bottom of the actual photo as was showing in the render where the logo is to go.

There should have been more care put into the preparation of the food and the plating as well. It looks sloppy. Also, the background is pretty gnarly. A longer focal length/wider aperture would have made it more appealing.

Agreed. I had something else in mind, but that was not my call.

I understand what you mean, but the student AD really wanted to play up the construction site bg. He was thrilled with the harshness and busyness of it all. We'll see if the professor (the client) agrees.

The model is left-handed.

I wish I could see his eyes,
The perils of being art directed. :/

C'mon tex, this is Beginner's Forum material. Always use right handed models. It's basically written in the camera manual.

I can only imagine such perils *shudder*

... and the perils of being art directed by a student at that. :study:

Celestial kinda of photo and experience. Intent to feed this.

Better prep on the food would have been nice. This does not look like some amazing DIY food creation which is what the Cooking channel is all about.

Compared to typical construction worker lunch-pail fare, I think it works just fine.
