They're ok. The first one was my fav or the lot, you framed well and captured the emotion in that one image. All of them, except the last, are very tight, don't be afraid to open up a little.

On the last one i wanted to show some dimension but the place was small so i couldn't do much. I tried a lot to open more but i always saw only distractions so i zoomed more to eliminate them. I have more where there is motion. Thank you for c&c. I hope more users will post.

It's easy to get stuck shooting that tightly on your subjects at shows. Like Trever said, move around at shows and explore how you can frame an image. At new venues I like to practice on the bands that hit the stage before the one that's hired me. It looks like you were shooting from the same spot for most of these images. Explore the wide angle lens too with venues that are cramped; they can be fun to get creative with. Try not to chop off too much of your subject's body when cropping, and shoot at angles so that the mic doesn't dominate your subject's face.

Here are some a little different. Most of the shoots that i took were close to 50mm and 24. I will keep in mind to do that way more faster. Didn't shoot a concert for couple of months. What you think of these photos?

The second and last ones are the best imo, although you've still chopped a little bit of the guitar player's head off in the second.

The first one would be better if we could see more of what he is doing. I like framing subjects within a photo a lot, but the viewer needs to understand what they're doing. Just enough is obscured in your image to make it ambiguous what he is doing with his arm.

On second i was at 24 couldn't do very much. I was very close to them sometime i was just some cm close to him. On first one i was aware of that and waited a little but he didn't turned to me and was to the finish to last song so i tried anyway.

I dig them. They're just what they intend to be IMO. I like the monochrome ones a lot more than I do the color.

btw I'm mad jelly. My pix would look like cell phone pix at 10k ISO.

The one with the four guys in the crowd - coming as a dude from a band, I will always hate that shot. If it's not Iron Maiden, and you shoot the crowd, it seems to always come out as a really, really thin crowd. This clearly was no exception. When you're on stage and you're playing, you feel like you're playing to at least 5x the actual amount of crowd. Whenever I would get show shots from our gigs, even if we'd had 200+ people there and I remember everyone going bonkers for my band, that shot seems to thin people out. Don't know why.


Anyway, I've never liked that angle. THAT IS NOT TO SAY that yours isn't a great shot though. These are all really good!

Just going by the order you posted in both posts...
I love 9 and 10, those are my favorites. I don't know exactly why, but I think its the angles.
The last one is superb as well
1 is a nice shot, but I don't feel strongly about it either way
5 looks too much like a snap shot from a P&S. There's not a whole lot going on there.
Definitely agree with what was said about the crowd shots. Though if there is a decent crowd up front (I'm talking at least 50 people) I would probably try to get them in, but keep the shot tight...if that makes any sense
I like what you've done with the processing, the extreme contrast adds to the feel and energy of the photos

Just my two cents, I think overall you did a great job!

Yes i added that so that next time i won't make a shoot or present it if i don't have a good angle that presents a huge crowd. Here i couldn't do that at all and it wasn't a lot of people. From the stage it would be always a good shoot with the band and the crowd it can be seen way more better. If i will be shooting some were with a big stage and have access i will try to get some good shots.
