What's new

Constructive Criticism please!

It still looks massively tilted, I'll tell you that much.

Really, the shot is unsalvagable. Surrender. It's across the street so go shoot it again. Keep trying and you get better each time.

The place where you shot it is a bit awkward. I'm vetting that there is actually a bit of a hill that slopes down to the water. That's why when the image is levered to the water the land looks off and when it's leveled to the land the water looks off.

Like I said Kevin compositionally this image was better then you past ones. No the picture is not perfect. Learn from your successes from the image and from the things people have pointed out and maybe move on to a new image.

^^^ still massively tilted.

Water finds its own level, but hills and mountains do not. Level on the WATER... not the horizon.

There is such things as slopes and hills... Why does the slope have to be level? As long as the water is I think it's good.
I like the edit. If only the pic were in focus...

Kevin,
Perhaps I've missed it in your previous posts but how far do you live from the nearest town? I'm not being facetious...I'm just really curious. I've always found something to shoot but on occasion I get to an uninteresting location like what you have. Sometimes if there is nothing interesting to shoot you must move on! Do you have a car?

Ooops!

I live in Omaha.
So depends what you would describe as town..
the only photogenic places in Omaha to shoot are about 20 miles away,
yes I have a car. lol

I know the problem now, you're in Nebraska. Just go across the border to Council Bluffs because I know they have more beautiful landscapes there.

That's a 30 minute drive =p
Only being 17 I'm not really allowed to just drive out and about that far, only for work.
I take my camera everywhere I go though, so if I see something that would look good to shoot while I'm out, I'll stop and shoot.

Wait,
are you being sarcastic?
That looks like Comic Sans, lol

Yep that's about a 20 mile drive from here..
I haven't been down there in a while, (well actually I was downtown yesterday, but it was for work so I didn't have time to shoot).
But next time I get the opportunity to go down there, I'll be shooting.
I just wish I lived closer, the downtown area is a great place to get some nice shots.

My side of town is just suburbs. Houses. Stores. Houses. Houses. Houses. McDonalds. Houses.

Not true. At. All.

As you know I also live in Omaha, there is no shortage of places to shoot here. It's no different than any other moderately sized town in the US. I will agree however, Omaha is not an ideal place for landscapes. Do you live by the Papio (or any other) trail system? I'm sure you do. Put your camera and accessories in a backpack, get on your bike, get on the trail and ride! Do you know how far the trail system goes in Omaha? All the way South past Bellevue. Way North as well. Did you also know it goes down across the Pedestrian bridge and into Council Bluffs? Well it does. Use it! Don't be tied down to Standing Bear Lake, I've always thought it was a little icky anyways...

As I have told you several times before, Benson has some fantastic alleys which are great for urban grunge shots. Downtown also has good alleys as well as cityscapes. How the heck can you not visit the Old Market for shots?! The Magnolias and flowering almond trees are in full bloom right now, take advantage of that. Do you live near a park? Go there. You've told me before you have a girlfriend...use her (that sounds bad) Practice modeling shots in the evening. She'll get some good Facebook pictures and you'll gain experience in the portrait realm.

Go to BestBuy and get a tripod, I don't care which one. At this point, any tripod is better than none. NO gorillapod. I used this one for the longest time. Or get this one I know for a fact the BestBuy's in town have this one.

lastly, friend me on facebook...

I hope he's being sarcastic, because council-tuckey...:x

I've been on the trails before, but they all just seem to be repetitive. You know how it nature is out here. The grass, the creeks, the lack of wildflowers. All looks the same. I know there's places downtown and benson, etc. I just haven't had a chance to get down there and shoot.

As for my girlfriend, she won't let me post up pictures I take of her, and I rarely get to see her. So that doesn't seem to work out =/
But when I get the opportunity to go downtown and wherever else to shoot, I will.
I'm just saying that in my area, there's not many places to take shots.

Also,
what's your facebook? lol

How many images can you take right now within 10' of you. Right Now!

I've done that one before =p
my basement is bland and boring. Mostly boxes and trash.
So not too many good ones.
