Contact Cleaning

I was reading (on various internet sites) where people were having problems with battery meters reading incorrectly on their cameras or batteries being drained by (possible) dirty contacts between the camera and lens. So, i was curious what people use to clean them and if there is a specific way to do so.

You can also have problems with the contacts between the lens and camera body.

I've always heard that a pencil eraser is a good way to clean contacts.
