New Contax NX with 28-80 lense for $450.......is a Contax NX worth having?

I assume you mean Capture NX. It has some cool features (I've played with the trial version) but it's clunky in my opinion.

So far I'm pretty happy using GIMP to edit and UFRaw to convert my files. They cost me a total of $0 (legally).

I would invest in a manual focus Contax ... such as the RTS III.
You have more lenses to choose from.

It is an awesome camera.
