Had my Dslr since march 2013 and every clear day where sun is out i hook the camera up to my telescope (With correct solar filters) and spend hours a time directly pointed to the sun in live view mode. This is also done on extremely hot days as well and would so would think its got to get pretty hot to cause damage.

There's a very simple adage we used to use with guitars: "If you're uncomfortable, your guitar is uncomfortable", meaning that if you wouldn't want to be in an environment, assume that the environment is also not healthy for your gear. Seems simple enough, but there are some real hammerheads out there who believe the best place to store a guitar is in the trunk of their car.

I simply assign the same reasoning for my camera gear. If an environment is simply too hostile for me to be in, I can't imagine why it would be a good idea to take my gear into that environment...

The other major reason higher grade cameras have a metal body is because the metal body blocks RF (radio frequency) interference from the electronics.

Can you share any documentation on this? As an engineer I am skeptical such a limited frame would provide any sort of EM shielding.
