Cooking your Dslr.

Since the west coast is getting warmer. My dslr is cooking outside. Do you guys concern about that? Do you put a rain cover on your dslr to prevent from overheating?

Putting a rain cover on would do the exact opposite and make the camera get hotter by trapping heat the camera electronic produce.
Part of the reason higher level camera bodies have a metal chassis is to help the camera dissipate heat the camera electronics generates.

Heat dissipation is also part of why the metal they use is a magnesium alloy. Magnesium alloy also gets a nod because it is light weight.

The other major reason higher grade cameras have a metal body is because the metal body blocks RF (radio frequency) interference from the electronics.

I've spent all day shooting outside in places like Oman & Qatar in 140+ temps with no issue. Don't worry about it.

FYI people have been shooting DSLRs in the west coast heat and hotter places for YEARS if it was an issue then camera manufactures would have addressed it long long ago.

Cooking my camera doesn't bother me.

It's when I toss it in the washing machine to clean it that is of great concern.

sparky, you gotta toss it in the dishwasher with a spot remover so there's no dust spots on the sensor after cleaning. If you toss in the clothes washer then you need to line dry it, it makes too much noise in the dryer.

To cook: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place one DSLR on a greased backing sheet, near the center to allow for expansion. Bake for 14-18 minutes, until evenly cooked. Food should be cooked to 160 degrees to ensure safety.

I personally feel 90 minutes in a 375º oven with at least half a bottle of young red wine is best YMMV. All joking aside, so long as you do not leave your camera locked up inside the car shouldn't have a problem.

I wonder if you could run the weather resistant or waterproof cameras through a dishwasher. Lets face it, sometime they get dirty. would it bother a 7100 to go through a dishwasher?

I'd try the steam setting in our Kenmore dryer first.

I use the washing machine just to clean the outside. To clean the inside, I fire up the 4500psi pressure washer in the garage. With that puppy, I don't need no sissy "Mirror Up for Cleaning".
