Cotton Candy!

At the end of this festival, the vendor approached children and asked if they wanted some free cotton candy, which caused much excitement amongst the kids. This particular boy ran back to the playground with his cotton candy clutched in his hands. I had only a split second to capture the image, wish the background wasn't quite so busy (the pickup truck especially).

I like this image! I feel you captured the moment in time quite well. I love the position of the little boys legs as he runs off! While I agree that the background could be less busy, I'm also a big believer that life ISNT picture perfect, and it's great anyways! ;-) I'm curious what it looked like in color, because in feel like the b&w conversion is a little off. Over sharpened? Too much contrast? I can't pinpoint it, I really do like this shot though. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your feedback JustJazzie, I really appreciate your thoughts. The background was even more distracting in the color version (the pickup truck shiny bronze and the Pizza Girls truck bright yellow and red).

It is a great capture, reminds me of Jean-Jacques Sempe drawings in "Little Nicholas".

Just love this shot, capturing these moments are much tougher than we think and I kind of like the conversion as well.
I think the hint of vignette is what might have been bugging Jazzie.

Why not? I love the shot as is, and would have loved it if it was captured by jazzie and she decided to change it to all grass as well; it's not somethign that "makes" the shot anyway, to each their own I say!

Lovely shot, catching the moment. I think landscape could have worked here (giving the lad some space to run into), but I guess there was no time to think about composition...

For image impact I would agree, but that's street photography and cloning out or cloning in takes away something from assumed objectivity of it. Today it is line on the grass, tomorrow maybe something more important... As we already know from the past.
