Couple from today for C&C

It was getting close to sunset, so thought I'd take a quick walk. Came up with a couple shots.

1. I want to like this one but I think the lack of definition in color is what really bugs me. I like contrast of the pure white of snow and the brown roughage.
2. I really like this a lot. I like the couple of fallen snow flakes and how “lonely” this last fluffy plant looks. The use of the frame is really great too. It’s not quite center but it’s still good. I kind of prefer to off center subjects.

I like #2 - I like the composition and it's interesting with the texture of the puffy plant and the falling snow in the background. The DOF looks good to me too!

With all due respect, I don't care for #1. It isn't interesting to me and I don't really see a focal point except for the snow on the branch but it doesn't do anything for me.

Too much foreground in #1.

I would crop out the white band @ the bottom of #2.

No problem. I admit I had envisioned something different, but didn't get what I wanted. I tried a few different crops, but this was the best I got. Wasn't sure if it was just me or not, so that's why I posted.

I understand that! I have way too many pictures that did not come out like I envisioned but it is great to have other people look at the pictures and see if they see something I missed or if I got it but am being too much of a perfectionist...
