Those are great dogs. I feel sorry for any breed who's "standard" is to have their ears lobbed off, though. Makes them look too mean and disfigured if you ask me.

thanks. yea, he will probably be 115-130lb size wise.

theres a few reasons i got his ears done, regardless of standard. its acceptable to have natural ears, but too many variables come in to play with natural ears and it was piece of mind to get them cropped correctly and not worry about the outcome of his ears later on.

WTF has happened to his ears ? Only 1 reason for it and that is illegal dog fighting

GTFO of here with that sh*t unless you actually know what you're talking about. why don't you do a little research before you come even put that kind of stipulation on me or my dog. this aint no damn pitbull. and frankly, even if it was, i would still be offended. just b/c a dog has cropped ears doesn't mean they are use for fighting, regardless of the breed.

you just made yourself look like an idiot.

That being said, I HATE this style of cropping, and the whole 'oh it causes more ear infections to leave them long' is total BS. Beautiful pup though.

i can respect that opinion SNBniko,at least you said it with some sense. but the ear infection wasn't the reason i did it. theres several other reasons. many natural ears won't set properly. some hang too tight, some lift and create "airplane ear" aka "rose ear". this crop you speak of the the cane corso standard crop though. anything too tall/too short is incorrect. ive seen one with a great dane crop and it looked absolutely hideous, or cut too short and they look like they have no ears whatsoever.

but yea, gary caught me. i plan to let our mini daschund and him fight once he gets a little older, closer to 100lbs so its more fair. shes the real fighting dog.

i REALLY wanted to enter him into the SACCI nationals this weekend. our breeder is going, and wanted us to go as well. i absolutely cannot miss work monday so that was out of the question. i plan to show him at some point, and typically, from what i hear, they do better if they are cropped/docked. it's more desired by judges, and most breeders.

Just been to the link didn't see anything about chopping ears off, my dog is a hunting dog but it has ears

Ears: Set well above the cheekbones. May be cropped or uncropped. If cropped, it is in an equilateral triangle. If uncropped, they are medium size, triangular in shape, held tight to the cheeks, and not extending beyond the jaw bone.

Just been to the link didn't see anythink about chopping ears off, just had a look at them for sale in the UK they look better with ears

These dogs were originally bred for protection and boar hunting.

Now, gsgary. Tell me why you might want a dog to not have a lot of ear if they are to be used in those two sports?

(Yeah, and the UK has decided that captive bred horses need their whiskers, and made it illegal to shave them off. Fun fact: They do not need their whiskers, they don't function like a cats or dogs.)
