Couple landscapes from a relative newbie

So I just joined a few days ago and thought I might get a little constructive criticism on my work so far. Thanks in advance for looking and I hope you enjoy.

Believe it or not, I went early in the morning for my shoot. Things haven't really changed much over the years there. I processed the picture using onOne's photo suite to clean it up, vignette and convert to sepia

The old pine tree is actually pretty nice. It's framed a bit too tightly, but otherwise it's nicely done and I keep looking at it.

The photo of the church makes me want to shower in gasoline and light a cigarette. That's some heinous overprocessing. And the vignette...? *strikes a match*

The subject, sky and background are dramatic in your first image; good eye.

The church photo could use natural color and detail since the subject is plain--not enough contrast. If the wire can be cloned out, do it. Thanks for sharing the personal backstory on this photo.

Thanks for the comments, the church photo is an exception to the norm. My great great grandparents donated land for the church and cemetery many years ago. My mother requested last year before Christmas that for her gift I take a picture of the church with stipulations. I couldn't erase anything from the photo and it should match the first family photo we have of the church . Do you can see why pesky little power lines were left in and I did my best to match the browns of the original. I appreciate you guys looking at both the pics and helping me out
