Hey folks!

I had a shoot yesterday with a Davis local. Courtney, our model, had attended one of her friends' shoots earlier this year (Rachel) and liked what see saw, so we decided to plan on a boudoir shoot. With the planning for that shoot taking a bit, we opted to utilize yesterday as a "warmup" shoot so I could get a sense for how she handles the camera. Outside of a few small hitches the shoot went well. I'm looking forward to doing her boudoir shoot. The only thing I need to watch is that we don't have the same expression in each shot. I brought two flashes, but really decided to just keep it simple and roll with one and the 85mm.

Here are my two favorites from the shoot :) We had a great little sunset peak out from between the buildings for us, so I did my best to snag the moment and use that ambient light. I have a color version of the BW one, but I prefer the version.

If you've got any critiques, toss em' my way! Now that I'm moving to the Bay Area and not going to be bouncing in and out of the country any more for awhile, I plan on picking the portraiture game back up again.

Best,
Austin

I like the first one

#2 I don't like her expression... bring down her right shoulder a bit, move her head a bit forward... change the hue of those blue/purple oof circles right of her head

others will tell more

I looooove #1. Really nice BW conversion. A very minor nitpick would be that I would have tried to get her hands in focus as well but the most important part, her eye, is razor sharp so it's only really a nice-to-have.

#2 is well executed, but not as interesting a pose as #1.

Nice work!

#1 is excellent; a 'one eye' can be difficult to execute, but you've done it, and, as mentioned, the conversion is very nice. The second is nice, but I hate the disembodied hand look; it really looks like she's being groped from behind.

I would agree with the above. One other thing on #1, I would consider cloning out the tank strap on the left side. It would give it a sensual feel and just clean up that side. (It may not work, but worth trying to see)

#1 is the better of the two, but they are both great photos.
I bet she will love them!!!

I dont have anything critical to say that hasnt already been said, but i must ask is she even old enough to do a boudoir shoot?
She looks very young and i feel like riskay shots of her might not look appropriate to anyone who doesn't know you/her. Im assuming the boudoir shots will be kept private and off the internet but i still wanted to throw that out there.
Don't take that the wrong way, i'm just thinking aloud here!
