Crawfish, Crayfish, Crawdad?

This is one of those creatures that has several different names. Saw this one today in some shallow water in the forest preserve.

It's also known as creyfish, with an e! My brother and I used to have a small pram and a few crawdad traps, and we'd catch them for eating. They're quite delicious, as are most crustaceans, when properly cooked and prepared.

I've never eaten these but would like to try it. Guess they're very popular for eating in New Orleans. I have eaten frog legs as we used to hunt and gig them in the country ponds. Those frog legs were much tastier than any I've ordered in restaurants. This guy won't be eaten (at least by me) because I let him go on his merry way.
