Crazy photographer's rights story

wth? Something is seriously wrong with America, i mean come on "nformed them that she posed a terrorist threat." the government is wayyyy tooo paranoid

ancy was questioned on the side of the road for approximately five to six hours, from about 6pm until midnight, denied food or water, and denied the opportunity to use a restroom, all without having received any warnings as to her rights.
This kind of bs makes me wanna just hate all officials.

arrest her for an unreported knife wound.
< lol

Not only did this article pi** me off but i also realize how ignorant America is.

just finished reading everything including the update at the bottom that the town defaulted on the case...

I hope she gets every penny of that 70 mil... According to the editor's notes at the bottom of the link you provide, all of the info is taken from court documents so I personally believe everything in it. She was treated like crap, they stole $5 grand from her that she needed to pay for her kids' educations... ****ing ridiculous if you ask me...

Its funny i take pictures of my local airport all the time, and never once have i even been warned. but then again us Canadians are more easygoing.

A woman and two young men stopping to take photos of an airport, is worthy of being "checked out" by the police.

They then find 13 thousand dollars and a rifle--I don't blame them for holding her for a few hours.

This was posted on another forum.

The story on the attorney's blog is decidedly one sided, and with a little research it's obvious the attorney cherry picked the court record and is putting spin on his version of the story.

If it's in print on the Internet, doesn't make it a true story.

Her 18 & 20 year old sons showed up later. They weren't there when the police stopped her.

Try taking pictures of a military base with posted signs prohibiting photography and see how far that gets you. :gun:

That's what this dumb broad did, I hope they don't actually pay her anything. I hate people sometimes. :grumpy:

This. 9/11 might not have happened yesterday, but people are determined to not let it happen again. I think that lawyer blog is ridiculously exaggerated.

Did they say there were posted signs prohibiting photography? I didnt see that stated anywhere. I could have missed it though.

No, she took a picture of an airport, from a public road. She was entirely within her rights. I can stand on a public road here and take pictures of F-15's taking off from the Guard airbase without any problems. These cops are douchebags who don't understand the law. Statements like the one you just made are the reason law-abiding citizens are getting the shaft in cases like these.

Major Williams pointed out that signs located next to the helicopter read “the use of cameras or video equipment is prohibited,” and explained that the ANG prefers that no one take photos of the base. He said that if anyone is caught taking photos without prior permission, they will be questioned by base officials.

Reading is your friend.

1. A sign prohibiting photography from a public place is generally not going to have any legal backing or city ordinance.
2. "ANG prefers that no one take photos of the base" is just too damn bad. They can prefer all they want.
3. The only thing that would prevent photos being taken of a military base or airport from public property is if it was a threat to national security. And I'm fairly confident that any judge would say that if it's viewable from a public road, in plain site, AND OH BY THE WAY IS A TOURIST ATTRACTION (as this shell of a helicopter was), it doesn't meet those criteria.
