Crazy photographer's rights story

This kind of explains why all this happened:

“This can happen to anybody,” Ms. Genovese said while the Fox News show “Glenn Beck” was playing on a television in her home.

...

Ms. Genovese has posted remarks that are critical of President Barack Obama and the Federal Emergency Management Agency on her blog and Twitter account. On her blog, she had speculated that FEMA would be conducting military drills with foreign troops from July 27 to 31 on American soil.

She watches Fox News and Glenn Beck and is critical of POTUS. I'm no fan of Glenn Beck, but I am critical of POTUS.

This is what we have come to expect in the United States of America.

I find it disturbing that this woman was arrested for "criminal trespass" while on a public road. Anyone care to explain how this works?

Story doesnt say she's on public property or road, only accessible to the public. My front yard is accessible to the public but its certainly not public property.

She's lucking she's not sitting in Guantanamo Bay. The military takes these things very serious, she was in front of a military installation entrance, not the civil airport .

It doesn't matter. You can't treat people like that whether they were sitting in front a civil airport, military base or on Area 51's blueprint for the Starship Enterprise. People have civil rights and unless the police could prove she had broken the law in anyway, she should have been released, or if they had to keep her,at the very least been given proper treatment for her injuries and been told how the investigation would proceed.

The total breakdown of civil liberties among several different agencies seem very unlikely.
All this could've been avoided if she simply wrote to the base commander "Please sir, may I take a few pictures of the nice helicopter at the front of you base for my patriotic website, here's the address. Thank You. In any case I will respect your decision".
Chances are she would've gotten it. And if not, respect it.
And as for Guantanamo bay, we've got enemy combatants (terrorists) there, have been there for years without charges. Not saying its right, just saying.

But isn't the helicopter on display to the public in full view of the public road? Of course people ae going to take photos of it, I bet aircraft enthusiasts take photos of it everyday.

"only accessible to the public" ??

You're going with that huh?

On a more serious note:

she pulled over onto the shoulder on Old Riverhead Road
Um, that's not a public road? Cuz it sure looks like one. :lmao:

"and crossed over the road to the airport entryway that is also open and accessible to the public to take a picture of the helicopter display. "
Guarded entry way that is not public right-of-way I would bet you. I would add she never left her car when she did this.

IOW you haven't been there nor have you looked at Google Maps to see just how far outside the "Guarded entry" she was... You're just assuming she was on private property and therefore 6 hours of detention and harassment on the side of the road and 4 nights in jail are justifiable?

Just sayin'.
