Critique Needed!!!

I'm fairly new to photography and i want some real critique on my photo that I can learn from.

1) i like the idea of this shot but it seems too dark. if that was the intended purpose then please forgive

Thank you, I hope this forum will be able to help me with becoming a good photographer.

To be honest i did not have any attempt on having the picture dark, i just took the pictures. I'm quite new so i really am not well ware of lighting.
What is composition???

composition is how you set up the shot and basically how you "compose" the picture.

Welcome to the forum!

Here's my opinion:

1. I too find the shot a bit dark.

2. To me the horizon seems to be tilted slightly downward to the right.

3. The light probably would have been less harsh if you had waited until late afternoon (or shot early in the morning). But then the shadows would have been much longer which might not work.

4. I find the large, very dark foreground shadow to be distracting -- my eye keeps going there.

5. I'm wondering how the shot would look with a lower point of view.

But still, a nice shot and a nice first post!

I like the photo. Great tones...darkness doesn't bother me at all.

Pretty morbid but its still a good shot to me. It makes you think a little, catches your eye. The only portion that "bothers" me is the foreground. Its a little distracting for some reason. Its hard to tell what he is actually lying on. A persons grave, or the ground or whatever else; I;m not sure. Its an interesting shot though.
