That's what I would do (change it to 3:2), unless you want them to be 16:9 for some reason.3:2 would use more of the sensor than 16:9 (16:9=1.77:1), 16:9 would crop a little off of the top & bottom.

You can crop them to 16:9 (or anything else) later if you want to.
If you view your pictures on the TV, 16:9 will look better if you have a widescreen TV...Other than that, I don't really see the purpose of the setting. I would keep it on 3:2.
...But - It's your camera, if you disagree, do what you want.
