Crumbling defenses

I ike the composition. I feel like the curve of the wall is partnered (lack of better term?) with the curve in the clouds. I love dark skies behind clouds also ... nice :)

One thing that *might* be distracting for me is the way the horizon intersects the end of the cannon barrel.

Thanks for the reply and the compliment! At first, I would have agreed with you about the horizon being broken, but what I found over time, obsessively looking at it, is that the barrel breaking the horizon actually causes my eye to find the cannon. Without something to break such an eye holding element like the horizon, I think it would take much longer for the eye to be drawn to the cannon. Well, that's my thought, anyway..

I did, but then I later thought I made a mistake in my decision. In the end, I turned out to like it. I more or less came full circle :biggrin-93:
 
I don't think the shadow is too much. Very nicely done IMO.
