CS4 Student Edition/CS4

Alright, question for you guys--

I've been working with an older version of photoshop for a while now, and I'm thinking of getting the student edition of CS4 (extended). Anyone know the difference between the extended non-student version? Just want to make sure I make the right decision.

Student version has a license of 3 years. (at least in the uk). there are no other differences

I don't think there is a difference but I think there is something about not being able to use it to sell work. Don't quote me on any of that though. Someone should be able to help and try google it can work wonders.

This is not true in the U.S. although I think it may apply to international editions. There is no restriction on using it for profit. The U.S. version of CS4 extended student is the same as the regular version. There is no license limitation after you graduate (specifically addressed in their FAQ).

There is no difference, beyond cost, between the Regular and Student Editions of CS4 Extended.

I will second what icassell said about the restrictions on using a Student Edition for commercial use, except to mention it's my understanding that applies to North American, not just the US.

Just a myth. Propagated by Adobe itself I think as it seems to be repeated in Mac stores...

Yea I have the student edition and I had similar concerns. I simply called adobe and talked to them. Here in the US you can use it for commercial purposes.

For a question like this, it's sometimes easier and less confusing to simply call Adobe (as in this case) and ask them directly. Then there is no confusion.

I have heard, perhaps incorrectly that you cannot upgrade from say CS3 Student Edition to CS4 (any edition) is this true???
