Hello All,
I am planning to get one of D5100 or D90..But i am still confused of what to take...can any one please suggest ?

If the price difference is not a problem for you then I'd take the D90. For me, the D90's internal focus motor makes it a lot easier when buying lenses. :)

I would take an older intermediate/prosumer model over an entry-level camera any day.

Yep got frustrated with entry cams inability to focus some of those AF and AF-D lenses like the cheapy but wonderful 50mm f1.8 AF-D.
And smaller viewfinder and no flash commander mode for wireless flash made for frustration. Biggest was lack of dedicated controls requiring me to remove camera from my eye and menu dig to change a setting and missing the shot. Many grow out of entry cameras the first year they get them. For me the D90 is one to grow into over the next 2 or more years.
.

Thanks for the info..my only concern for D90 is that it is an old one and the D5100 is a new model..And are there any good canon models in that range of D90 ?

The D90 was launched less than 3 years ago so, it seems short sighted to call it old.

The D90 has more capability than you will likely know how to use, and many of the D5100's features are the same as what the D90 has. The Multi-CAM 1000, 11-focus point, auto-focusing system for instance, and the 420-pixel RGB metering sensor.

Did you know the D5100 uses a pentamirror viewfinder, while the D90 uses a pentaprism viewfinder that gives a brighter and larger viewfinder image?
