Greetings..

I've gotten my 300s a few weeks ago... Seller gave me a package deal, and added the 28-80 Tammy lens.

Now i'm stumped...

All pictures I manage to get with that lens are all just a hair out of focus. Shots that are taken during the day, with a high shutter speed are better, but the night shots are all soft.

Yesterday, I went to a local park, they have a whole bunch of little different things there with lights on them..
here are the samples.

is that the lens? is it a setting i'm misusing? both shots were taken off of tripod, using remote.
all exif data is there.

thanks in advance.

I don't see any exif info in those shots.

But if I were to guess you were shooting the lens wide-open which is why it's a bit soft. Most lenses don't perform well wide open, especially zooms.

sometimes its hard for the AF to find a focus at night. thats what ive found on my d40. although a d300s should hopefully be better at this..
