Alright so I just picked up my first DSLR the other day, a Nikon D3100.

I have an old Nikon F2AS Photomic and three lenses for it. I just attached the telephoto lens to my D3100 hoping that it would work. It attaches but the camera says "No lens attached".

Does anyone know what lenses are compatible with my 3100? I want a telephoto, but figured why go buy one if I have one that I can use for now...? :)

Thanks!

You need to set the camera to Manual mode.

I thought I had set it to manual mode before posting this... I guess not.

So, it no longer tells me "lens not attached", but the "pictures" are just black.... blah! Maybe it's time I read front-to-back of my field guide....

They are black because your shutter is too fast, the aperture is too small, or your iso is too low. Probably a combination of the 3.

Dont forget the lens cap as well.
