D3100 and Wireless Remote

I have a D3100 and connected the Pixel TW-283 and the remote works fine, but everything's coming out under-exposed (white washed out look)
It does mention this in the remote instructions, but doesn't give me any idea on what needs changed on the camera to correct this.

Leaving the remote connected, I take pics with the camera and works fine, it's just going through the remote.
Shooting outdoor, bright sunny days.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum. Are you using some sort of cover over the viewfinder when using the remote?
