and i have to wonder about that $20 AF motor in the body that they neglect to put into a couple models...
is it possible that nikon thinks that anyone buying these cams will likely NOT upgrade glass?

I doubt it. It's certainly possibly that Nikon thinks it will make more money by forcing customers to buy new AF-S lenses instead of older (and perfectly good) AF-D lenses.

i think you could easily spin the phrase "bad influence" and turn it to "uber supportive in the area of body upgrades"...
