D7000 camera setting- viewfinder/Lv

Hi guys, im new to photography and i just got my Nikon D7000. While i was trying to take a shot using the viewfinder- the shutter wont release and i couldnt take a shot. I tried switching to Lv and i just clicked so easily.. If anyone can give a tip nit just on this topic but on the camera setting in general.. Thanks in advance

What changed in that time?

Did you change how far the subject was (if you were too close to begin with, focus could not lock and if the camera is set to it, the shutter will not fire).

Change in lighting (same as above.... if the lighting is too low, there are setting to prevent you from taking the shot).

Also, make sure the MirrorUp is not selected.

To understand the problem we would have to know exactly how your camera was set at the time. There are a few instances where your camera wont fire because it seems to 'know' the picture wont turn out. Having a D7000 you might check out the Asus Transformer Pad and an app called Helicon Remote. You can have complete control of your camera with the pad using the pad as a huge liveview. You can even do bracketing with up to 15 shots and focus stacking as well.

You could have the camera so that it won't shoot unless you have achieved focus lock.

Why?

The D7000 is an enry-level DSLR, though it is at the very top end of that Nikon segment.

Ok ok..what I meant was....I got the D7000 recently...and Ive been taking pictures for awhile...this thing has a lot of bells and whistles. I would advise reading the manual to see which features you should be using, and which ones you should leave on the automatic setting. The manual is kinda crappy...but if you google the setting you are unsure of, there is usually some good advice online.

Side note...yes, this camera could be considered small potatoes to the ultra guru's on this forum and their super-sweet cameras...but this camera is pretty super sweet..and it takes amazing pictures for folks like you and me..especially in low light. Enjoy this awesome camera!!!

Your shutter will not work as the default is auto esposure lock go to the custom menu (the one with the pencil) and under C1 set the exposure lock to off.Thenyour AE/AL buton will peform this function depending on you set it up in the controls menu. Keep reading the manual it takes time to get familiar.

It's definitely dry and mostly uninteresting... and I know from reading it cover to cover. Pretty much in the same way the D90 manual was when I read it.
