D7100 Question

Is there any way to extend the time so that the viewfinder controls can stay on longer? It frustrates me that when I'm looking in the viewfinder I have to push the release button halfway down every 8 seconds or so when it switches off...Thanks!

You mean your exposure meter, iso, shutter speed and such in the lower black area? That is strange that it takes that long to show. On my d3200 it was always on.

I believe Standby Timer is what you want - Custom Settings menu item C2.
