Just wondered if anyone knows if my old Jessops 270TBZ flash will work on my Nikon D80 without frying anything?

From what I found the trigger voltage of you 270TBZ is 212V. Way too high for you D80. Nikon flashes are 6V or so. I think it would melt in your hands. :D

Nikon flashes may be rated at 6volt but their DSLR camera sync circuits are rated at +ve 250Volt max, any negative voltage or a positive voltage greater than 250V will damage the camera. Your best move would be to get multimeter (you don't need anything fancy a cheap meter will do) and measure the voltage coming out of the hotshoe of the flash.
