Something just not right about the processing here for me, and the background doesn't really work either imo. But your dad is definitely a good subject for portraiture if he doesn't mind lots more shots!

Try face on with a very soft background. B&W a good choice.

Yeah not a particularly serious shot. And he definitely wouldn't do a setup shot. The background is simply the curtain behind the couch he was on. It's inches behind his head, so obviously way too in focus.

I had mixed feelings on the processing and wanted some thoughts about it.
