My keys didn't lock my car when I pressed the button so someone just opened the door and took the bag. On the bright side I got a reason to get the d7000. I gotta say I love the bigger cameras. I like having that extra grip you get over the d5000. Now I just have to save up the money. Do you guys like thicker heavier cameras or lighter ones.

Woah! sorry to hear the news.

Heavier the better; I hate dragging the tripod along so the heavier the camera the better you can hand-hold it.

Do you have full coverage on your vehicle?

I like the D7000 over my D5100 not because of weight or size, only because of the quality and the benefits that it had over it. I wouldn't buy something worse over something better because it was marginally more in my ergonomic preference. That's just me though.

I have to admit that when I take the grip off the D700 it feels too small and too light but swinging it with grip big lens all day is a real workout.

that sucks :(, check craigslist and local ebay auctions. I've read about people finding their stolen items that way and getting them back.

I shot with the d5000 before and i have the d7000 right now ... The d7000 has a better feel.

Sorry to hear that. Do you have home contents insurance? I had my camera stolen from my car under the same circumstances about 18 years ago, and my parents' home insurance (I was still living with them at that time) gave me a cheque for the replacement cost of my gear back then. Might be worth asking about...

no because my door was unlocked.

Aw, sorry to hear that. My car door was also left unlocked, but I have absolutely no idea if my parents told their insurance company that or not.
Either way, enjoy your new camera when you get it!

That doesn't matter really. I'm not one to be deceitful, but in this case... omit that fact.
