Dark Chocolate

I've been playing with some camera settings recently & thought I'd share a couple pictures. Both were taken in my dining room with all natural light coming from the window. I know his face is a little washed out but I actually prefer this style (definitely not everyone's style though!). On the first picture, I didn't do much editing. Just a quick level adjustment & a light adjustment in his eyes so I could see the brown easily (his eyes are amazingly dark...sometimes, so dark that you can hardly make out his pupils depending on how light a room is & if there's sunlight). On the second picture, I was playing around with some vintage textures. Tips on this welcomed! I found it to be pretty easy but I know I could be missing something or there might be a way to make it better.​

They eyes in the 2nd pic are way too dark. Can't see any detail.

I like the first one but it looks like the face needs to be sharpened or adjusted somehow.
