Sorry everyone, I posted the wrong first pic. I have corrected the mistake. Thanks for the quick responses. I think my ISO was set at 200. But does that matter when the camera is set to auto? If I go up on the ISO, won't the picture be more grainy?

There should be an auto ISO setting that you can choose as well. Click the ISO button on the top of your camera and review the options.

Yes, it was already set to auto ISO, that's part of why I don't understand why the pics are still coming out dark. Is it possible the camera needs to be looked at? Like maybe something needs cleaned, adjusted?

Look at the reset options on page 111 in the manual.

If they don't do the trick, do a factory reset:
How can I perform a full factory reset on the D70?

Also, I'm not sure what firmware version your D70 has but there is an update available:
D70 2.0 firmware update

Is there a way to tell what firmware is on the camera, and if it's an older version, should I try installing it first before going for the resets?
