Daughter's Dance Recital

Was seated way too far away at daughter's dance recital in a large dark auditorium. From my angle and distance it took a bit of processing to get a reasonable photo out of it.

I ended up darkening and blurring the other dancers a bit to give her a bit of a spotlight, as we didn't really get any other pics with just her separated from the other dancers, or even any with her prominently featured enough to recognize her as the subject.

What would you have done differently to help her stand out from the dancers and still capture the fact that she was in fact in the middle of a bunch of other kids?

I think your adjustments are a tad too strong. She is so much brighter than the others, it doesn't look right. I think it's a good idea to selectively darken the other, to make her stand out...but it doesn't take much to make a difference in the photo.

This! ^^ Right idea, but, IMO, wayyy too strong on the execution.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys. Yeah, I had been reaching the "maybe I overdid it" conclusion. This version is the kind that is great for mom and the daughter -- they love her in the spotlight ... but it's not exactly amazing work yet.
