Desert Botanical Garden

This is a shot I did in the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden. The light was pretty harsh and direct so I used a 3-shot HDR to get some dynamic range in the shadows. I cloned out any evidence of "people" such as signs, etc.. I am just starting to do B & W conversions in photoshop so still having fun with it. CC welcome as I am new to BW photography and it was an assignment for my photography class.

I would try going in and using your burn tool to burn out the area surrounding the plant, thus isolating it a bit more. A layer style with burn will be more subtle, maybe at around 25% opacity.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will play with that a bit. Never used the burn tool much.
