Developing Issue

Hi there,
I'm new to this forum, but I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me with a chemistry issue i've had recently.
I have developed two rolls of bulk rolled Delta 400 in a paterson tank. Exposed the film at box speed, developed with Ilford DDX, Ilford Stop bath and fixer.
The negatives have returned with many marks/blotches on them and i'm struggling to figure out what has caused it. Example attached.
The developer was brand new, the fixer had been sitting around for a while and i did do a pretty quick final wash... perhaps a temperature issue?
If anyone has any thoughts it would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like the film was developed on a spool, which wasn't wound in properly. The emulsion side of the film was in contact with the film in the next part of the spiral.

thank you! yes this could very well be it. do you know of any ways to avoid this going forward? it all felt okay when i wound it on…

Only way to prevent it is to be very careful wind the film onto the spool. It takes practice to learn what it feels like.

You will need to waste a roll of film. In good light practice loading the spool with the sacrificial roll of film. Make sure to wind carefully so that the film stays in the tracks of the spool. This is how I learned back in the day.

Or just practice using the developed film that displayed the issue.
