What's new

Did you get any new gear for Christmas?

Lighting gear........

from me to me.... :(

Why the sad face? It looks like you know how to shop for yourself! :P

As for my Christmas gifts, I got a second flash to accompany my 430EXII (with another receiver as well for OCF), a grip for my 5D, an extra battery and an 8GB CF card, and the coolest mug ever.

Got a sweet little espresso maker. I guess that'll help me take more pictures, lol!

No real gear or anything though, but then again - I didn't really ask for any.

Cowboy Studio Flash Triggers
Cowboy Studio Flash Stand, mount, umbrella.
Sigma 10-20 f4 :)

I was Santa this year as normal. This is what I picked up for self / wife.

3 - Books - 2 on lighting, 1 on kid photography - lighting for me, kids one for wife.
2 - Nikon SB-R200's - to add to my existing R1 kit
1 - Wacom Intous 4 medium sized tablet - to share with my wife.
1 - Photoshop Elements 9 - mainly for my wife.

Not gear related but expensive enough to pick up a new DSLR - a huge 26.4 cuft. stainless steel refridgerator.

I did get the only thing I asked for. New leather wallet. My old one is about 6 months past its prime.

My wife got me some big freaking glass!!

Santa is still circling. I sold my D5000 kit on Christmas Eve and got 2 calls today about 2 craigslist lenses. I 'm meeting 1 person tomorrow about 2 lenses I'm selling. I'm still collecting funds for a new D7000.

Got myself a Nikon 80-200 2.8. Wife got me a Light stand, umbrella, and a rocket air blower.

Sunpak 6000PG tripod (pistol grip + ball head)
Canon BGE5 battery grip
A book on macro photography
Canon remote shutter switch
Lowepro Passport Sling bag
16 GB SDHC card
Lens hood for 50mm f1.8
Subscription to "Popular Photography" magazine

I also got an extra battery pack (LP-E5) to go in the grip, but it wont charge...the one that came with the camera charges just fine in the charger, but I can't get anything in the new battery... Anyone have any advice? It's Canon branded from Adorama...not a knockoff...

Can you put a meter on it and see if there's any power in it all? I'm guessing it's just a bad battery; should be returnable under warranty.

$600 to spend on my choosing. Which, of course, will be photography related. Now I just have to choose between the following:

Set 1:
2x 150w/s strobes
2x 20x28" softboxes
1x smaller softbox
3x black/silver 33" umbrellas
3x light stands
1x 10x20' grey backdrop
1x 5x9' white backdrop
1x 5x9' black backdrop
1x barn door, grid, filter set
1x snoot
1x Sigma 400mm F/5.6

OR

Set 2:
1x Sigma 150-500mm F/4-6.3 APO OS HSM

OR

Set 3:
1x Sigma 50-500mm F/4-6.3 EX DG HSM APO

Set 4:
(This would involve selling my Sigma 10-20mm F/4-5.6 for funds)
1x Sigma 400mm F/5.6
1x Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8

Set 5:
(This would involve selling my Sigma 10-20mm F/4-5.6 and Sigma 18-50mm F/2.8 for funds)
1x Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8
1x Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8

The only thing is, I dont know where Id use the lighting setup at. I honestly dont have the room to use it anywhere. Also, I dont know if the image quality is better on the BIGMA, BIGMOS, or 400mm prime. Ahh..decisions, decisions.
